A little more insight of who i am, what i stand for and why i do photography.
Welcome to my first blog post! Cringing a bit because this post is about me and, well, I suppose why I love being behind the camera is because I don't do well with all of the attention on me. None the less, I would love for you to get to know me better, as well as Madison & West Lifestyle Division.
“Embrace light. Admire it. Love it. But above all, know light. Know it for all you are worth, and you will know the key to photography.”
The first time I read this quote, it blew my mind. Why you ask? Because I have been struggling to put into words what my thoughts are about life as well as photography. See, this quote is so versatile if you take the word "photography" out and replace it with "life" you will discover new meaning. Aren't we all just searching for light in life? Be it in a portrait, a ray of sunshine piercing through the clouds, positivity in people, or the fridge light that goes on when you're keen on a little midnight snack.
I am fond of light. Not only in photography but also in life. If we search intensely for it we will always find it and be able to create something extraordinary.
I paint with light
Play with light is evident in my photography. I thrive on finding that sliver of light to make a good portrait great. So I guess you could say I am a natural light photographer although I am not only limited to natural light as I do enjoy using artificial light too.
I capture in a lifestyle environment
To create truthful photos of my clients, I like to take photos in a lifestyle environment. A place were my client can feel comfortable and at ease. I also divert from having too many props in my photo session. The focus should be on my client, not what is draped around them.
A love for manhattan
Anyone who knows me knows that I am besotted with Manhattan and have traveled to New York City many times. My husband and I got engaged there and we were lucky enough to have our honeymoon there too. Grungy elements of New York and Brooklyn are highlighted in my work through high contrast, selective light, composition and editing techniques. The sights, the sounds, the smells, everything about it makes me feel alive. I enjoy street photography too, capturing an ever changing city though its different phases, along with its people.
We all have a story
Yes, we all do. There is a reason why we do what we do and think the way we think. I aspire to Blog about things that matter, as written by my story. I would love to hear more about yours too so feel free to leave a comment or to send me a direct message.
